Red Hat Society on Enough Rope

Hey there,

Last night I was introduced to the Red Hat Society on Andrew Denton’s “Enough Rope” and loved the idea.

To best explain the Red Hat Society I’ve borrow an explanation from one of their groups:

“The Red Hat Society began in California as a result of a few women deciding to greet middle age with verve, humor and élan. They were inspired by a poem called, “Warning,” by Jenny Joseph, who depicted an old woman who declares revolution against her encroaching age by planning to wear red hats and purple outfits.

“Thus was born a very loose and casual international organization of women who just want to have fun. Red Hat Societies exist in more than 33 countries from Algeria to Wales, Australia to Venezuela. There are chapters in every state in the U.S. and across Canada. “
