Hey there,
Community art studios are a great place to be creative and make new friendships – something important for all of us, no matter our age or length of time in an area.
My friend Jules has an art studio in the beautiful town of Milton on the south coast of NSW – House of Jules – and it is always fun going there to make something.
For me I really enjoying making something that doesn’t have to be of such a high standard for it to make a new home with someone else. I revel in doing something new and not being perfect with it!
At Jules you can do mosaics, painting, silk painting, ceramics, beading, jewellery making, painting greenware and a heap more. You sit round a big table with other women coming and going and creating. The conversation ranges from families, business, children, food, art, movies, community activities, mothers and fathers, novels and everything in between.
I love being part of quilting circles and community art studios with the conversations of women. There is liberation in it.
So get out there and try something different – go out of your comfort zone in a really comforting environment!
Smiles
Belinda
